From Fortress to Fragile: Arema FC’s 109-Day Home Drought at Kanjuruhan

Stadion Kanjuruhan has traditionally been a daunting destination for visiting teams, often giving Arema FC a strong psychological edge. That long-standing reputation, however, has faded during the 2025/2026 BRI Super League season, as the club has struggled to impose itself on home soil. What was once a symbol of dominance has turned into a source of concern.
Arema FC endured an alarming run of six consecutive home matches without a victory, stretching across 109 days. This barren spell lasted from mid-September until the end of December 2025, highlighting a sharp decline in home form. Throughout this period, Kanjuruhan failed to provide the lift that Singo Edan had relied on in previous campaigns.
The extended slump has inevitably affected Arema FC’s position in the league standings. Despite loyal and vocal support from Aremania, the team has been unable to translate crowd energy into consistent performances or positive results. The gap between expectation and reality has grown wider with each match played at home.
The downturn began in the fifth week of the season with a narrow defeat to Dewa United, which set the tone for the matches that followed. Losses against Persib Bandung, Borneo FC, and Persija Jakarta compounded the frustration, while a draw against Madura United offered only minimal relief. Across six home fixtures, Arema managed to collect just a single point.
The low point arrived in a rescheduled match against Persita Tangerang at the end of December. Even with a numerical advantage late in the game, Arema FC failed to change the outcome and suffered another defeat. That result underlined how vulnerable the team has been at Kanjuruhan this season, reinforcing the sense that their home ground has lost its once-feared status.
