Madura United Turn to a Familiar Face as Junior Brandao Returns to Fix Attacking Woes

Madura United have shown clear intent to revive their campaign in the 2025-26 BRI Super League by making decisive moves in the mid-season transfer window. Struggles in the attacking department pushed the club to act quickly, focusing on finding a reliable solution to their lack of cutting edge in front of goal.
That solution comes in the form of a familiar name for supporters on Madura Island. Brazilian striker Junior Brandao has officially returned to the club, becoming Madura United’s second foreign signing of the window. His arrival follows the earlier recruitment of Riquelme Silva, signaling a broader rebuild of the team’s offensive line.
Brandao is no stranger to the red-and-white colors of Laskar Sape Kerrab. He previously featured for the club at the start of the 2023-24 season before continuing his career with Bhayangkara Presisi Lampung FC and Malut United FC. His familiarity with the club’s culture, style of play, and the demands of Indonesian football makes his return a calculated move rather than a gamble.
The club’s management identified the shortage of goals from natural strikers as a pressing issue that required an immediate response. Bringing back an experienced forward was seen as the fastest way to boost productivity, especially as the team aims to climb the standings and stabilize performances in the second half of the season.
Brandao joins the squad at a moment when Madura United’s attack has begun to show signs of improvement. After scoring 18 goals in 15 matches, the team recently delivered an emphatic 5–1 victory over Semen Padang at Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium. His return is expected to help maintain that momentum and ensure consistent goal output as the season progresses.
