Pedro Neto Faces UEFA Investigation After Touchline Incident in Champions League Clash

UEFA has launched a disciplinary investigation involving Pedro Neto following an incident during Chelsea FC’s defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League. The situation occurred late in the match and quickly attracted attention due to the player’s interaction with a ball boy near the touchline.
The Portuguese winger became involved in the incident during stoppage time of the first leg of the round of sixteen at Parc des Princes. Chelsea suffered a heavy 5–2 loss in that match, and tensions rose as Neto attempted to retrieve the ball quickly in order to restart play.
During the moment of frustration, Neto pushed a ball boy while trying to speed up the game. The action immediately triggered a brief confrontation involving players from both teams. As a result, UEFA initiated disciplinary proceedings, citing potential unsporting behavior under its competition regulations.
After the match, Neto acknowledged the situation and expressed regret for his reaction. He explained that the moment was driven by intense emotions during the game and that his intention had been to resume play as quickly as possible rather than cause harm.
The winger later attempted to resolve the situation by apologizing directly to the ball boy and offering his match jersey as a gesture of goodwill. Despite the apology, the final decision now rests with UEFA’s disciplinary body, which will determine whether further sanctions will be imposed on the Chelsea player.
