AC Milan Explore Joe Gomez Option as Defensive Reinforcements Remain Elusive

AC Milan are actively continuing their search for defensive reinforcements during the January transfer window, with Joe Gomez emerging once again as a potential target. The Rossoneri are keen to add depth at the back as they look to stabilize their squad for the remainder of the season.
The renewed interest in Gomez comes after Milan encountered significant obstacles in pursuing other primary targets. Attempts to secure players such as Milan Skriniar and Juventus defender Federico Gatti have proven difficult, prompting the club’s management to reassess their strategy and turn toward more attainable alternatives.
Gomez is highly regarded for his experience at the top level, his ability to play across multiple defensive roles, and his strong physical presence. These qualities are seen as a good fit for Massimiliano Allegri’s system, particularly in strengthening the defensive rotation.
At present, Liverpool have not shown a clear willingness to part ways with the English defender. Despite this, Milan continue to closely monitor the situation and remain hopeful that circumstances could shift, potentially opening the door for negotiations as the window progresses.
Alongside Gomez, Milan are also evaluating other defensive options. Axel Disasi has been mentioned as a possible addition, though he is not a priority, while Nottingham Forest’s Murillo has drawn internal admiration for his consistent performances, keeping him on the club’s broader radar.
