Dele Alli’s Como Chapter Ends After Just One Appearance

Dele Alli’s short-lived stint in Italy has come to an early end as Como 1907 officially terminated his contract only eight months after his arrival. Initially signed on an 18-month deal in January 2025 following his release from Everton, the former England international failed to make an impact at the Serie A club. His only appearance came in March, when he was sent off shortly after being subbed on due to a reckless challenge.
That match marked his first professional game since February 2023, when he last played while on loan at Besiktas. Unfortunately, the opportunity to revive his career in Italy never materialized. Como’s management confirmed that the midfielder was not part of head coach Cesc Fabregas’ plans for the 2025/26 season, leading to a mutual agreement to part ways before the transfer window closed.
The club emphasized that the decision was made in the best interest of both parties, with Dele seeking more consistent playing time elsewhere. Como expressed gratitude for his brief time at the club and wished him well in his future endeavors. Despite the mutual respect, his departure underscores the challenges he has faced in reigniting his football journey.
Once considered one of England’s brightest young talents during his early years with Tottenham Hotspur and a key figure in the 2018 World Cup squad, Dele’s career has since declined. A combination of injuries and form issues has seen his trajectory stall, and this latest setback at Como adds to the growing uncertainty surrounding his next move.
