PSM Makassar Unveils Tenth Foreign Player, Gledson Paixao

PSM Makassar has officially introduced Gledson Paixao, a 30-year-old midfielder from Brazil, as their tenth foreign signing for the 2025 season. The announcement came just before a postponed match against Persebaya, highlighting the club’s intent to bolster their squad depth with experienced international talent. Gledson joins the team on a free transfer after spending eight months with Brazilian club Retro.
The primary reason behind Gledson’s recruitment is to strengthen PSM’s midfield, particularly in defensive duties. He will compete alongside existing midfielders such as Akbar Tanjung, M Arfan, and Rasyid Bakri to provide stability and resilience in the center of the park. His presence is expected to add balance and experience to the team’s tactical setup.
Gledson is not only the tenth foreign player for PSM this season but also the sixth Brazilian in the squad, reflecting the club’s strong preference for South American talent. This includes recent signings like Savio Roberto, Lucas Dias, and Alex Tanque, alongside players from other nations like Liberia, Congo, Japan, and Cape Verde.
With this diverse mix of international players, PSM Makassar aims to build a competitive team capable of making an impact in the league. The addition of Gledson Paixao represents another step in their strategy to blend local and foreign talents for a successful campaign.
