Indonesia Faces FIFA Series 2026 Without Two Key Players Amid Disciplinary Setback

Indonesia’s national football team will enter the FIFA Series in March 2026 without the services of Thom Haye and Shayne Pattynama, a situation that adds an unexpected challenge ahead of the international tournament. Their absence has been confirmed well in advance, forcing the coaching staff to rethink squad depth and tactical options.
The FIFA Series 2026 is scheduled to take place from March 23 to March 31, with Indonesia appointed as one of the host nations. Matches will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Central Jakarta, a venue that regularly stages major international fixtures and is expected to draw strong public attention.
At this stage, only St. Kitts and Nevis has been reported as a confirmed opponent for Indonesia. Other participating teams have yet to be officially announced by FIFA, leaving some uncertainty regarding the overall level of competition the national team will face during the series.
Haye and Pattynama are unavailable due to disciplinary sanctions imposed by FIFA. Both players are serving a four-match suspension, which directly affects their eligibility for the March fixtures and rules them out of the entire FIFA Series window.
The punishment stems from an incident that occurred after Indonesia’s match against Iraq in October 2025 during the fourth round of the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. In addition to the suspension, both players were also fined a significant amount, marking a costly episode that followed Indonesia’s narrow defeat and the end of its World Cup qualification journey.
