50% Increase from Last Edition! Official: 2026 World Cup Total Prize Pool $727 Million, Champions to Receive $50 Million

Official news: FIFA has approved the prize money amounts for the 2026 World Cup. The total prize pool is $727 million, a 50% increase compared to 2022. The champions will receive $50 million, and teams will get $10.5 million just for participating.
The FIFA Council has approved a record $727 million financial distribution plan for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, a 50% increase from the 2022 World Cup.
The largest portion, $655 million (up 50% from the previous edition), will be distributed as prize money to the 48 participating teams. The specific distribution plan is as follows:
Champions: $50 million
Runners-up: $33 million
Third place: $29 million
Fourth place: $27 million
5th-8th place: $19 million each
9th-16th place: $15 million each1
7th-32nd place: $11 million each
33rd-48th place: $9 million each
In addition, each qualifying team will receive $1.5 million in preparation funds. This means all participating member associations will receive a minimum guaranteed revenue of $10.5 million through participation in next year's tournament.
