Aston Villa Eye Jonathan David as Emery Plans Summer Attack Reinforcements

Manager Unai Emery is believed to value the Canadian international’s versatility, as he is capable of playing in multiple attacking roles across the front line. The club’s immediate priority, however, remains finishing the current Premier League campaign strongly. Aston Villa are aiming to secure a place in the 2026–27 UEFA Champions League, although the race has become more challenging following recent defeats against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Chelsea F.C.. Despite these setbacks, Villa continue to hold a position in the league’s top four and remain active in European competition after progressing to the Round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League.

Even with their positive season so far, the club is expected to approach the transfer market carefully. Financial regulations set by both the Premier League and UEFA require clubs to manage spending responsibly. One potential boost to the club’s finances could come from the permanent transfer of Donyell Malen to AS Roma if certain appearance-related conditions are met. Should that clause be triggered, it could provide Aston Villa with additional resources to pursue new signings during the summer window.

Among the targets being considered is David, who joined Juventus F.C. after leaving Lille OSC at the end of his contract. The striker has produced a mixed debut season in Turin, recording seven goals and five assists in 38 appearances across all competitions. With strong competition in Juventus’ attack limiting his role as a regular starter, the Italian club may be open to selling him for a fee believed to be between €15 million and €18 million. That valuation could make him an attractive option for Aston Villa, particularly as he could provide depth behind forwards such as Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham while also offering tactical alternatives in several attacking positions.
