Semen Padang Parts Ways with Coach Dejan Antonic After Poor Run of Results

Semen Padang FC has officially ended its partnership with head coach Dejan Antonic following a series of disappointing results in the 2025-26 Super League season. The announcement was made through the club’s official social media channels on March 5, signaling the end of the Serbian coach’s tenure with the team known as Kabau Sirah.
In its statement, the club’s management expressed gratitude for the effort and commitment Antonic had shown during his time at the Haji Agus Salim Stadium. Despite the brief message, the announcement confirmed that the club had decided to move forward without the experienced tactician after a challenging period for the team.
The decision was not made lightly. According to the club, discussions involving the board of commissioners and team advisers were held before reaching the conclusion to make a coaching change. The primary concern was the team’s declining performance in the top-tier competition, which had failed to improve over recent matches.
Pressure on the coaching staff intensified after Semen Padang failed to secure a victory against PSIM Jogja in the 24th week of the Super League. Playing at home, the team could not capitalize on the advantage even though their opponents were reduced to ten players during the match, further deepening frustration among supporters and management.
After 24 matches in the season, Semen Padang remains stuck in the relegation zone with only 17 points, a situation that has raised serious concerns about the club’s survival in the league. The management hopes that the coaching change will spark a turnaround in performance, while speculation continues about who will take over the position and lead the team through the crucial remaining fixtures of the season.
