Lucas Paqueta Rejects Premier League Offers to Return to Flamengo

Lucas Paqueta has decided to prioritize a return to his former club Flamengo, turning down interest from several Premier League teams. Despite West Ham United’s efforts to retain him, the Brazilian attacking midfielder has made it clear that his preference is to move back to Brazil. Flamengo has emerged as the leading candidate to secure his transfer, with the player reportedly reaching a personal agreement with the club.
Paqueta’s situation has become a central issue for West Ham, which is struggling near the bottom of the Premier League standings. The club faces challenges in holding on to key players while attempting to avoid relegation. West Ham’s current position in 18th place leaves them seven points behind safety, making the potential loss of Paqueta particularly concerning as the club fights to improve its season outcomes.
Interest from other Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Tottenham, and Aston Villa, has been rejected by Paqueta, who is focused solely on returning to Flamengo. Previous attempts to join his former team during the summer transfer window failed, but he has remained determined to reunite with the Brazilian side. This strong preference limits West Ham’s negotiating leverage despite their desire to keep him.
Negotiations are complicated by differing valuations between the two clubs. Flamengo is reportedly prepared to offer around £30 million, while West Ham seeks closer to £50 million including potential bonuses. This gap represents the main obstacle to finalizing the deal, leaving the transfer situation uncertain for the time being.
Although Paqueta is not expected to take extreme measures to force a move, his return to Flamengo remains a realistic possibility. Timing and agreement on the transfer fee will be critical, and if the deal does not materialize soon, both clubs are likely to revisit discussions toward the end of the season once West Ham’s league position becomes clearer.
