Jay Idzes Reaches Historic Market Value and Becomes Indonesia’s Most Valuable Footballer

Jay Idzes has achieved a historic milestone in his football career, earning recognition as the most valuable player ever produced by Indonesian football. The 25-year-old center-back, who also serves as captain of the Indonesian national team, has drawn attention for his consistent performances in Europe. His development since leaving Go Ahead Eagles in 2023 has been remarkable, turning him into one of the standout defenders currently playing in Italy.
After joining Sassuolo, Idzes quickly established himself as a key figure in the club’s defensive structure. The transfer from Venezia in August 2025 reportedly cost around 8 million euros, and the investment has proven worthwhile. Since arriving, he has become a regular starter and an important leader on the pitch, helping stabilize the team’s back line as Sassuolo competes in Serie A.
Idzes has played 26 league matches for the club and has maintained an impressive record of consistency, remaining on the field for every minute since late August 2025. Together with defensive partner Tarik Muharemovic, he has formed a reliable defensive partnership that has strengthened Sassuolo’s overall performance. Their solid back line has been a key factor in several important victories during the season.
Sassuolo managed to secure consecutive wins against Udinese, Verona, and Atalanta, results that helped the team climb into the middle of the Serie A standings. Under coach Fabio Grosso, the club currently sits in ninth place with 38 points, putting them in a comfortable position to maintain their place in Italy’s top division. The team’s strong results highlight the growing influence of Idzes in the squad.
His impressive performances have also had a direct impact on his market valuation. Recent estimates place his transfer value at approximately 11.7 million euros, surpassing the previous record held by Mees Hilgers. Idzes remains under contract with Sassuolo until mid-2029, yet his rapid rise has attracted attention from several major Italian clubs such as AC Milan, Juventus, and Inter, with reports suggesting Sassuolo could demand around 40 million euros if a transfer opportunity arises.
