Ronaldo Injury Raises World Cup Questions as Portugal Icon Races Against Time

Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked fresh concern among football fans after suffering a hamstring injury while playing for Al Nassr FC in the Saudi Pro League. The injury occurred during a league match against Al‑Feiha FC in early March, raising doubts about whether the Portuguese superstar will be fully fit in time for the 2026 World Cup.
During the match, which ended in a 3–1 victory for Al Nassr, Ronaldo was unable to complete the full 90 minutes. He was substituted after experiencing discomfort in his hamstring, immediately triggering speculation about the severity of the injury and its possible impact on his international commitments.
The situation naturally drew attention because the forward is already 41 years old, making recovery time a major point of concern. With the next edition of the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaching, many observers wondered whether the veteran forward could regain full fitness in time to compete on football’s biggest stage.
Early reports, however, suggest the injury is not considered serious. Some estimates indicate that the captain of the Portugal national football team may only require two to four weeks of recovery. If that timeline proves accurate, he should still have sufficient time to regain match fitness before the tournament begins on June 11 across United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Should Ronaldo make the squad, he would achieve another remarkable milestone by appearing in his sixth World Cup. Since making his international debut in 2003, he has become the most influential figure in Portuguese football, holding the national team’s all-time scoring record and leading the country to major titles such as UEFA Euro 2016 and multiple editions of the UEFA Nations League. Despite his long list of achievements, lifting the World Cup trophy remains one of the few honors still missing from his legendary career.
