AC Milan Stand Firm as Premier League Interest in Koni De Winter Intensifies
AC Milan reportedly rejected a significant offer from an unnamed Premier League club for defender Koni De Winter during the January transfer window. The Italian side decided to keep the young center-back as part of their long-term plans.

De Winter joined Milan from Genoa CFC in the summer of 2025 after the club allowed Malick Thiaw to move to Newcastle United F.C.. Although his early period in Milan included some adjustment challenges, the 23-year-old defender has gradually improved and started to show his true potential.

Reports from journalist Nicolò Schira suggested that two English clubs were strongly interested in signing the Belgian defender. However, Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri strongly opposed the idea of selling him, believing the player could become an important figure in the team’s defensive structure.

That decision appears justified after De Winter delivered several solid performances in recent matches. His defensive display was particularly notable during Milan’s 2–0 victory over U.S. Cremonese, where he helped secure a clean sheet and demonstrated growing confidence at the back.

Club management are reportedly satisfied with his development and view him as a key part of the squad’s future. With a transfer value of around €20 million and increasing interest from abroad, Milan remain determined to keep De Winter as they aim to maintain defensive stability and continue competing at the top of the league standings.
