Persija Jakarta Ends Mid-Season Partnership with Gustavo Franca

Persija Jakarta has officially confirmed its decision to part ways with Brazilian playmaker Gustavo Franca at the midpoint of the 2025-26 Super League season. The separation marks the end of Franca’s role as a key figure in the team’s attacking build-up and signals a new chapter for both the player and the club as the season continues.
The decision was reached through mutual discussions conducted in a respectful and professional manner. Both Persija’s management and Franca agreed that ending the collaboration would serve their respective interests, allowing each side to pursue growth and improvement for the remainder of the campaign without lingering uncertainty.
During his time with the Jakarta-based club, Franca contributed steadily from his position as an attacking midfielder. He featured in 13 of Persija’s 17 matches in the first half of the season, accumulating 567 minutes of playing time while recording one goal and one assist as part of the team’s offensive efforts.
Club management expressed appreciation for Franca’s professionalism and commitment throughout his stint in the capital. His presence was seen as a positive influence within the squad, and his work ethic reflected the expectations placed on players representing one of Indonesia’s most prominent football institutions.
With Franca’s departure confirmed, Persija is now widely expected to strengthen its creative midfield options in the upcoming transfer window. The club has already taken steps to reinforce the squad by announcing the arrivals of Uruguayan forward Alaeddine Ajaraie and full-back Fajar Fathurrahman from Borneo FC, highlighting their intent to remain competitive in the second half of the season.
