Senegal Edge Morocco 1–0 After Extra Time to Lift AFCON Trophy

The Africa Cup of Nations final was contested between Senegal and Morocco. In the first half, Pape Gueye’s header and Ndiaye’s one-on-one effort were both denied by Bono. After the break, Kaabi missed a gilt-edged chance, while Azzedine Ounahi and Hadji Diouf collided, leaving the latter bloodied but determined to continue.
In the 89th minute, Senegal thought they had scored from a corner, but the goal was ruled out for a foul by Seko on Achraf Hakimi. During stoppage time, Hadji Diouf brought down Brahim Díaz in the box to concede a penalty, prompting a brief walkout by Senegal players. Before the final whistle, Brahim Díaz’s Panenka penalty was calmly caught by Edouard Mendy.
In extra time, Idrissa Gueye provided the assist as Pape Gueye surged forward to score the decisive goal. Senegal eventually edged Morocco 1–0 to lift the Africa Cup of Nations trophy.
