Barcelona Re-Announce Cancelo Signing as He Takes Back No. 2 Shirt

After officially announcing João Cancelo’s arrival for the second time, Barcelona also released a photo of club president Joan Laporta with Cancelo. Cancelo will wear the No. 2 shirt again, the same number he wore during his previous loan spell at Barça.

As he is joining in the middle of the season, there were limited squad numbers available for Cancelo to choose from, with only No. 2 and No. 12 open. He ultimately opted for the No. 2 shirt. During his previous loan from Manchester City to Barcelona, Cancelo also wore No. 2.

That season, he made 42 appearances for Barça in all competitions, starting 38 of those matches, and recorded 4 goals and 5 assists. For this move, Barcelona will pay Al Hilal a €4 million loan fee. Cancelo will join Barça on loan until June this year.
