Lecce Coach Eusebio Di Francesco Suspended for Two Matches After Insulting Referee

Lecce head coach Eusebio Di Francesco has been handed a two-match suspension in Serie A following confirmed incidents of insulting a referee. The disciplinary action came after the 17th-week match in which Lecce suffered a 3-0 defeat at home against Como.
The suspension follows Di Francesco receiving a red card due to disagreements during the match. His on-field protest escalated, and reports confirmed that he used offensive language towards the officials, continuing his actions even after being sent off from the bench.
In addition to the coach’s sanction, Como defender Diego Carlos received a one-match ban after accumulating enough yellow cards to trigger an automatic suspension. Both decisions reflect Serie A’s strict enforcement of conduct rules for players and coaching staff.
Meanwhile, AC Milan was fined €10,000 for delaying the start of their match by four minutes, a repeated offense this season. Several other clubs were also penalized financially due to their supporters’ behavior, including Lecce, Lazio, Fiorentina, Bologna, and Atalanta for throwing objects onto the field during games.
The sanctions underscore Serie A’s ongoing effort to maintain discipline and sportsmanship both on and off the pitch. Clubs and individuals are being held accountable, emphasizing that misconduct from players, coaches, or fans will be met with strict consequences.
