Leeming Brothers Step Into Persija’s Senior Training as Rising Academy Prospects

Persija Jakarta recently highlighted a training session that included several young talents from their Elite Pro Academy setup. The session, shared through the club’s official social media, featured a mix of senior players and academy prospects working together, signaling ongoing efforts to integrate youth into the first-team environment. Among those present were brothers Oliver and Theo Leeming, along with fellow prospect Gabrieltus Alkevin Baghi.

Both Oliver and Theo have been active within Persija’s youth structure, with Theo listed for the U-18 and U-20 teams, while Oliver has been involved with the U-20 squad. Despite his participation in recent activities, Oliver’s name has not appeared in the official team list for the EPA U-20 competition. The brothers, who were born in Australia to an Indonesian mother with roots in Malang, previously developed their skills at Perth RedStar FC before joining Persija’s academy system.

Oliver, a 19-year-old fullback, and Theo, a 17-year-old forward, have begun to attract attention thanks to their performances at the youth level. Theo in particular drew significant buzz after scoring for Persija U-18 earlier in November, prompting discussions among supporters about his potential. His rise has brought both siblings further into the public eye as Persija continues to observe their development.

Head coach Mauricio Souza has acknowledged the presence of promising academy players, noting that the senior team already includes a sizable group of youth graduates. With competitive demands remaining high, opportunities for immediate promotion are limited. Even so, the coaching staff maintains close watch over emerging talents like the Leeming brothers as Persija works to build a pathway that balances youth progression with first-team ambitions.
