Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane had another sensational night in Cologne on Wednesday as his brace helped the Bavarians to a 4-1 win over FC Köln.

One of the real highlights of the match was his 38th-minute goal to put Bayern up 2-1, just two minutes after Luis Díaz’s equalizer that should have been disallowed. Kane took a turn and casually chipped it straight into the top corner.

“It’s one of my favorites. It’s a mixture of good finishing technique, instincts of my surroundings…it was nice,” Kane said in remarks to ESPN sideline reporter Archie Rhind-Tutt after the match. “I’ll probably try that 10 more times, it might not come off the way it did tonight…but it was a nice goal to score.”

It begins with a bit of fun as Kane comments on Archie’s colorful jacket and Archie attempts to point him to the FC Bayern logo on the back of it. But judging from the look on Kane’s face, he may have misdirected him…

Kane went on to say he was most pleased with how Bayern had retaken control by half-time after a “chaotic” opening phase, and noted that fatigue seemed to set in for Köln after the break to allow Bayern’s ascendancy to continue. And he gave a shout-out to assistant coach Aaron Danks, the set piece master at Bayern, who had given the squad “a bit of an English talking-to” about the team’s performance in first-half set pieces.

Bayern Munich traveled to Cologne for a midweek DFB-Pokal tilt with FC Köln.

Heading into the match, the Bavarians were riding high, but the squad knew that FC Köln would not be an easy out in front of its home crowd. Ultimately, Bayern Munich pulled out a 4-1 victory doing exactly what they have done to every other opponent it has had of late — wear them down and pounce.
