Serie A Clubs’ Wage Bills Revealed: Inter Tops 2025-26 Payroll Amid Big Changes

The latest figures for the 2025-26 Serie A season show Inter Milan leading the league with the highest wage bill, followed by Juventus and Napoli. Five clubs in total—Inter, Juventus, Napoli, Roma, and Milan—each have wage bills exceeding €100 million before taxes. These numbers highlight the financial powerhouses in Italian football, reflecting their ongoing investments in top talent to maintain competitive strength.
Napoli and Roma stand out for having significantly increased their wage expenses compared to the previous season, with Napoli’s wage bill rising by over 30%. Juventus also saw a notable rise, while both Inter and Milan slightly reduced their payrolls. On the other hand, several smaller clubs including Torino, Genoa, Lecce, Udinese, and Cagliari made significant cuts, trimming their wage bills by more than 10% as they likely focus on tighter financial control.
Despite cutting wages slightly, Milan led Serie A in transfer spending during the 2025 summer window, investing over €160 million in new players. Juventus and Atalanta followed with substantial transfer outlays, showing that while some clubs reduced salary costs, they still remained active in the transfer market to strengthen their squads.
The wage bill rankings clearly demonstrate the financial disparity within Serie A, with the top clubs maintaining significantly higher payrolls compared to mid-table and lower-ranked teams. Clubs like Lazio, Fiorentina, and Atalanta have moderate wage expenditures, while teams such as Pisa and Lecce operate with much smaller budgets, emphasizing the varying financial approaches across the league.
