Indonesia’s 13 National Players Shake Up Transfer Market with Big Moves
This transfer season has seen 13 Indonesian national team players switch clubs, both domestically in the Super League and internationally. A historic move was made by left-back Calvin Verdonk, who signed a three-year contract with French Ligue 1 club Lille, marking the first time an Indonesian player will compete in France’s top division. Other notable players like Emil Audero, Jay Idzes, and Kevin Diks also secured transfers to new teams across Europe and Asia.

Several players shifted within European leagues, with Emil Audero and Jay Idzes joining newly promoted Italian clubs Cremonese and Sassuolo, while Sandy Walsh and Shayne Pattynama moved to Thai side Buriram United. Kevin Diks found a new home at Borussia Monchengladbach after agreeing to terms earlier this year. Meanwhile, Justin Hubner and Nathan Tjoe-A-On transferred to Dutch clubs Fortuna Sittard and Willem II respectively.

Surprisingly, two key Indonesian players, Thom Haye and Eliano Reijnders, left European football to join Persib Bandung in Indonesia’s Super League. Jordi Amat also returned to Indonesia, signing for Persija Jakarta after leaving Malaysian club Johor Darul Takzim. These moves highlight a trend of national players bringing international experience back to the domestic league.

In a bid to explore opportunities abroad, striker Ramadhan Sananta joined Brunei’s PDRM FC, competing in the Malaysian league. The list of 13 players reflects a dynamic transfer market where Indonesian talents are gaining diverse experiences across Asia and Europe, boosting the profile of Indonesian football internationally.
