Inter Milan Strengthens Defense with Akanji Loan, Sends Pavard to Marseille

Inter Milan made decisive moves to reinforce their defense on the final day of the summer transfer window by bringing in Manuel Akanji on loan from Manchester City. The deal includes a one million euro loan fee and an option to make the transfer permanent for 15 million euros. This option could become mandatory if Inter wins the Serie A title this season, reflecting the club’s confidence in Akanji’s potential impact.
The arrival of Akanji is intended to fill the void left by the departure of Benjamin Pavard, who moved to Olympique Marseille on a loan deal with an option to buy for 15 million euros. Pavard’s move concludes after interest from other clubs such as Galatasaray and Tottenham Hotspur was reportedly considered. His transfer marks a strategic reshuffle in Inter’s defensive lineup.
Inter officially confirmed Pavard’s exit and highlighted his move to Marseille, where he will have the chance to continue his career in Ligue 1. This transfer reflects the club’s intention to refresh their squad while managing resources effectively. Pavard’s departure also opens up room for new talents to emerge at Inter.
In total, Inter wrapped up the transfer window with three signings. Besides loaning Akanji, the club also secured Ange-Yoan Bonny and Andy Diouf to bolster the squad. These additions signal Inter’s ambition to compete strongly in the upcoming season and maintain their defensive solidity.
