Tuesday's matchup between Mexico and Poland in Group C might be crucial.

Mexico is entering their eighth World Cup tournament after being ousted in the round of 16 in each of their previous seven appearances. With a 2-0 victory over El Salvador on the penultimate matchday, they qualified for the World Cup, finishing equal on points with Canada at the top of CONCACAF qualification and importantly three points ahead of Costa Rica in the play-off berth.

Poland just ended last in the Euro 2020 standings without a victory. Their chances of succeeding at a major tournament heavily depend on the performance of storied forward Robert Lewandowski. They defeated Sweden in the qualifying play-offs to secure a spot in the event, and they now arrive in Qatar in good spirits after winning 4 of their 9 games while also recording 2D-3L.

Such a gifted generation has not yet existed in Mexico. With the introduction of Cash and Zalevsky as active extreme defenders, Poland rebuilt their formation to a 3-5-2, which allowed them to better utilize Zelinsky and Lewandowski's strong points.
