Rangers go to Belgium on Tuesday night for the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round match with Union SG.
Only in March 2021 was Union SG reinstated in the top division of Belgian football. Union SG secured a berth in the Champions League third qualifying round by finally finishing second to Club Brugge in the champions playoff. The 2022–23 domestic season has already begun, with the team leading the table with four points after earning four points in their first two games.
Rangers' loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2021–22 Europa League final cost them automatic qualification for the European Cup this season. The Scottish Premiership season for Rangers in 2022–23 began on Saturday with a 2-1 victory against Livingston. Last season, they finished the Scottish Premiership in second place, four points behind champions Celtic.
Although Union SG must be given credit for their strong 2021–22 season. But I think Rangers will ultimately have enough to advance over the two legs.
