However, Ignacio Scocco is set to return from suspension.

MATCH PREVIEW
Newell’s Old Boys have slid into fifth spot following their 2-1 away defeat to Union Santa Fe last time out. Having produced one of their worst performances of the whole season, they couldn’t even rescue a point after conceding the second goal with just two minutes to go, even though they had equalised at one point through an own goal from Nereo Fernandez. Coach Diego Osella resigned after the match due to a conflict with the board. Newell’s have suffered four losses in their last five league matches and remain on 48 points. At home, they have collected 26 of those points, having won eight and drawn two of the 13 games played. Newell’s beat fourth-tier side Central Norte 4-1 in the Copa Argentina last week and advanced to the round of 32. They will host this match behind closed doors again following incidents in the Rosario derby.
Lanus made it three league victories in a row and five in their last six matches when beating Estudiantes 1-0 at home two weeks ago. It was an intense match during which Lanus managed to take the lead thanks to a goal from Matias Sanchez in the 13th minute and then they kept a clean sheet to claim a valuable success. The team have climbed into tenth spot on 45 points, just three behind the last Copa Libertadores place, occupied by Newell’s. They have grabbed 17 points on away turf, having won five of the 13 matches played. Lanus also beat fourth-tier side Sportivo Barracas 5-1 ten days ago, qualifying for the Copa Argentina round of 32.
---
This will be an even match between two good teams, but Lanus are more confident at the moment. Away win.

HEAD TO HEAD
These two have played 109 competitive matches since 1939 – 105 in the Primera Division and four in the second tier. Lanus lead with 45 victories to 35 overall. However, Newell’s Old Boys hold the edge at home, where they have won 26 of the 54 games played and lost just 11. Lanus are unbeaten in the last seven encounters both home and away, having won three of them.
