Neymar Commits to Santos Until 2026 as World Cup Ambitions Remain Alive
Neymar has extended his stay with Santos by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club through the end of 2026. The decision reinforces his emotional bond with the team where his professional career began and signals his determination to continue competing at a high level during the final years of his career.
The Brazilian star returned to Santos in early 2025 during a difficult period for both himself and the club. Despite recurring injury issues and a challenging league campaign, his presence proved vital as Santos managed to secure their place in Brazil’s top division during the closing stages of the season.
In recent years, Neymar’s fitness has been a major concern. He has struggled with knee problems and underwent a minor surgical procedure late in 2025. These setbacks have also kept him away from international duty, as he has not represented Brazil since suffering a serious knee injury during World Cup qualifying in 2023.
Even so, Neymar’s long-term goal remains clear. He continues to target a return to the Brazilian national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup, with the coaching staff indicating that selection remains possible should he regain full fitness and consistent form.
On the pitch, Neymar remains an influential figure for Santos. He recorded double-digit goals across all competitions last season and played a key role in stabilizing the team. With the new domestic campaign set to begin in January, Santos will once again look to their iconic forward to lead them forward as they aim for a stronger and more secure season.
