Solskjaer Reportedly Open to Sensational Return as United Interim
In a stunning development following the dismissal of Rúben Amorim, former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær is reportedly open to returning to Old Trafford in a temporary capacity. According to an exclusive report from journalist Rich Fay, the 52-year-old Norwegian would be "more than open" to stepping in as a caretaker manager until the end of the 2025/26 season. Solskjær, who remains a beloved figure among the fanbase, has been out of work since being sacked by Turkish club Beşiktaş in August 2025.
Amorim was relieved of his duties on January 5, 2026, after a turbulent 14-month tenure that culminated in a public fallout with the club's hierarchy over transfer strategy and tactical direction. While academy coach Darren Fletcher has been placed in immediate interim charge for the upcoming clash against Burnley, the club is reportedly seeking a more experienced "firefighter" to navigate the remainder of the campaign. Despite the appeal of "restoring the vibes" at Carrington, it remains unclear if the United leadership will officially approach Solskjær or pursue other targets like Oliver Glasner or Michael Carrick.
