Diouf Sidelined with Minor Muscle Fatigue as Inter Defeats Bologna

According to Sky Sports reporter Matteo Barzaghi, Inter Milan midfielder Andy Diouf was omitted from the squad for the recent Serie A fixture against Bologna due to minor flexor fatigue. The decision to rest the young Frenchman was a precautionary measure taken by the medical staff to prevent a more serious injury during a demanding period of the schedule.
Inter Milan ultimately secured a 3-1 victory over Bologna at the San Siro on January 4, 2026. The match featured standout performances from Piotr Zieliński, Lautaro Martínez, and Marcus Thuram, all of whom found the net to propel the Nerazzurri back to the top of the Serie A standings. While Diouf watched from the sidelines, his absence highlighted the club's growing depth, as they managed to overcome a tough opponent despite missing the versatile midfielder.
Since joining from Lens for €25 million last summer, Diouf has made 9 appearances and contributed 1 goal for Inter. Although he has largely served as a rotational option, his physical presence and tactical flexibility have been valuable for manager Cristian Chivu's system. The injury is not expected to keep him out for long, and he is likely to return to training ahead of the upcoming Champions League clash or the next league round.
