Fenerbahçe Eye Leon Goretzka as Bayern Future Remains Uncertain

Fenerbahçe are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Leon Goretzka from Bayern Munich during the January 2026 winter transfer window. The Turkish giants are said to be monitoring the midfielder’s situation closely, viewing him as a potential marquee addition who could elevate the quality and experience of their squad.

Goretzka’s future at Bayern has become increasingly uncertain as his role within the team has diminished. Increased competition in midfield has limited his playing time, leaving him behind several teammates in the pecking order. At 30 years old, the German international appears open to a new challenge if regular opportunities continue to be scarce.

Fenerbahçe’s interest is closely aligned with the vision of head coach Domenico Tedesco, who is reportedly keen to add a high-profile central midfielder with Goretzka’s physical presence and playing style. The club sees him as an ideal fit for their ambitions, particularly as they aim to strengthen the spine of the team ahead of the second half of the season.

Financially, the move could be appealing for Fenerbahçe. However, Bayern Munich are believed to be reluctant to sanction a January departure. As a result, Bayern may opt to let him leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2026, potentially complicating Fenerbahçe’s plans in the short term.
