Lyon confirm January loan signing of Real Madrid teenager Endrick

Ligue 1 club Lyon have announced the loan signing of Real Madrid teenager Endrick, who has struggled for minutes under Xabi Alonso this term. The 19-year-old enjoyed a promising debut season under Carlo Ancelotti in the Spanish capital, scoring seven goals and featuring from the bench often, but has now been largely frozen out of the squad and has just three appearances in all competitions.
Lyon have confirmed the loan signing of Real Madrid forward Endrick, with the 19-year-old set to move to the Ligue 1 club until the end of the season.
Lyon will cover part of Endrick's salary, and the deal does not contain an option to buy.
"Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to welcome Endrick, who will join the professional squad from 29 December, and would like to thank Real Madrid for the quality of the discussions and cooperation that made his arrival possible," the club said in a statement.
The Brazil international moved to the Bernabeu from Palmeiras after he turned 18 in July 2024, 18 months after a deal was initially struck.
Endrick joined Madrid for around a reported £52 million, making him one of the most expensive teenagers of all time, and he enjoyed a promising first season at the club.
Despite mainly being used from the bench, he made 37 appearances for the club under Carlo Ancelotti, but his playing time has been limited under new coach Xabi Alonso this term, making just three appearances in all competitions.
His sole La Liga appearance saw him earn a red card, and he did not start a game until a Copa del Rey fixture against third tier side CF Talavera.
He managed an appearance as a substitute in Real's 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League earlier this month.
The teenager has three goals in 14 matches for Brazil, but has not featured for the international side since a 4-1 World Cup qualifying defeat to Argentina in Buenos Aires in March.
A hamstring injury in May also ruled him out of the Club World Cup in the United States, and he missed the start of the season,
With the World Cup in America now just six months away now, he will hoping that a switch to Ligue 1 can lead to some impressive performances and force his way back into the national squad.
Endrick scored seven goals in his first season in Madrid, which was three more than Vinicius Junior scored in his maiden campaign in the Spanish capital.
