Sevilla and Lens Compete for Loan of Frankfurt Forward Elye Wahi

According to L'Équipe, Sevilla FC is actively pursuing a winter loan move for Eintracht Frankfurt’s French forward Elye Wahi. The Spanish club is looking to bolster its attacking options as they face a shortage of strikers, with key players Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke currently away representing Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Sevilla’s manager, Xavier García Pimienta, currently has limited frontline choices, often relying solely on Isaac Romero. Given the club’s ongoing financial constraints, a straight loan until the end of the season is viewed as the only viable path to strengthening the squad. However, Sevilla faces significant competition from Wahi’s former club, RC Lens, who are reportedly interested in bringing the 22-year-old back to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, where he previously enjoyed the most productive spell of his career.
Wahi’s recent trajectory has been turbulent. After a standout 19-goal season at Montpellier, he moved to Lens for €30 million and later had a brief stint at Marseille. Since joining Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2024 as a replacement for Randal Kolo Muani (and later Omar Marmoush), his form has dipped, and he has struggled for consistent starts in the Bundesliga. With Frankfurt open to a loan to help the young striker rediscover his confidence, a return to Ligue 1 or a fresh start in La Liga appears to be the most likely outcome for the January window.
