MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Rosenborg made it two wins from two in the league when they overcame Brann 1-0 in Bergen. It was a result that startled many owing to the team’s poor start to the season. A Babajide David strike two minutes from time sent the visiting fans into raptures and ensured the Trondheim club moved up to 11th place in the table. Despite their struggles the champions have lost only once at home in 2019 (two wins, two draws) - and that was a 2-0 league defeat to Eirik Horneland’s former club Haugesund.

After two impressive league wins over Ranheim (5-1 away) and Stromsgodset (2-0 home), Valerenga slipped to a 3-0 home league defeat to Lillestrom, a result that surprised many. The home side had Fitim Azemi sent off in the second half in that league game, but it was most notable for the poor performance of goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey, who made a number of poor judgments and errors. In league games played away from home, Valerenga have won just once (against Ranheim), drawing twice and losing twice. It is difficult to envisage any positive outcome from the daunting trip to Lerkendal Stadium.

I think Rosenborg’s home form speaks for itself and they should be able to secure a win here.

SECOND PREDICTION: TOTAL GOALS – THREE

There have been three total goals in each of the last two league meetings between these clubs in Trondheim. Therefore, I will predict another count of three total goals in this league fixture.

HEAD TO HEAD

Rosenborg have won all of their last five league encounters against Valerenga in Trondheim, scoring 14 and conceding three in the process.
