Maastricht travelled to local rivals Roda for their league fixture last week. They held onto a 0-0 score for the first 45 minutes, but the second half started less favourably as the visitors went 2-0 down, conceding goals in the 52nd and 66th minutes. However, goals from Anthony van den Hurk in the 78th and from Jordy Croux in the 86th minutes saw them equalising for a decent 2-2 draw. The mid-table side have registered only two points from their last four league fixtures, but they had won five times on a bounce in the league beforehand.

Volendam were unable to book a good result at home against Cambuur in the league last week. Although they deserved a draw given the flow of the league game and the chances created, their opponents managed to score the only goal in the 79th minute thanks to a rebound following a missed penalty, which had been given away by Darryl Baly. Volendam now have just two points from their last five league matches and have won just one of their last eight league fixtures (four draws, three losses).

Maastricht did not manage to return to winning ways last time out, but they have been doing reasonably well at home recently with three wins, one draw and only one defeat in the league. Volendam have been struggling since late January and I am going for a home win.

Volendam have shipped nearly two goals on average on the road in league action and they have failed to score in their last three league outings. I expect a home league win by two goals to nil.

Maastricht have won only one of their last five league meetings with Volendam, drawing one and losing three.
