MATCH PREVIEW:

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

Helmond are one of the poorer sides of the league, which is already showing. They managed a 1-1 draw against Volendam in the season’s opener, but four goals against before half time against NAC saw them receive a heavy blow. Robert Mutzers did score the 4-1 against the Breda side but things got worse as Helmond allowed the 5-1 in the 90th minute.

Almere are missing a few important players but their start of the season is reasonable. They drew Roda 1-1 away in the first match round and managed to beat Jong PSV Eindhoven 3-2. Radino Balker gave Almere an early lead when he scored in the 5th minute, and Youri Loen doubled up in the 11th minute. Almere then gave way the lead early in the 2nd half as they allowed goals in the 50th and 54th minute. Supersub Thomas Verheydt who joined from Go Ahead Eagles came on in the 65th minute and scored the winning goal in the 80th minute.

I’m going for Almere here, they’ve done well historically in Helmond and simply have a much better technically strong side.

SECOND PREDICTION: CORRECT SCORE: 1-2

Going back to last season, Almere won 19 league games. They allowed two goals just once and the other 18 were wins by allowing 0 or 1 goal. I’m going for a 2-1 Almere win here, with Helmond seeing that scoreline five times in the league last season.

HEAD TO HEAD:

Almere have won three of their last four league meetings in Helmond, winning the two last by a 2-1 margin.

Nowgoal Prediction: Miserable start for Helmond
