TEAM NEWS

Aue appears to be getting healthy for their return from the international break, with Dennis Kempe, Steve Breitkreuz, and Louis Samson all playing in a test match this week.

Central defender Maruice Trapp had successful surgery on his back. Osnabruck and trainer Daniel Thioune are negotiating on an extension to the trainer’s contract, which is set to expire at season’s end.

MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Dirk Schuster settled for just one point from his debut as Aue trainer. Now that he has players returning from injury and with extra time to work with his new charges during the break, we will see his influence on one of the league’s early surprise packages with eight points from five matches for a team many predicted to be relegated at season’s end. The early returns under Schuster appear to be good. Aue definitely had more big scoring opportunities than Holstein Kiel in the 1-1 draw.

Osnabruck has also established themselves as a surprise package in the early goings. The promoted side has won three of its five matches and sit fourth in the table coming out of the international break. Only Hamburg has conceded fewer times than Osnabruck’s four goals-against, three of which came on matchday one. Daniel Theioune’s crew has managed this in the face of a rash of injuries, which just makes the entire start all the more special.

In their last road match, Osnabruck struggled to get shots on target, but also limited the quality chances of Nurnberg, ultimately taking a tough loss via the only goal they’ve surrendered in their last four league matches. It is unlikely that Aue will have the approach they last showed at home, when they defended their way to a scoreless draw with Stuttgart, but that doesn’t mean they’ll necessarily be able to solve Osnabruck’s defense any better than the others had. Expect a tight match that could go either way, but where a draw would be the most-reasonable result.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - LOW

Based solely on Osnabruck’s stinginess, the low would be a good bet. Aue has just two goals from their last three league matches, but will be playing just their second match under a new trainer. Look for opportunities to be rare and goals even moreso.

HEAD TO HEAD

Osnabruck has won three of their six recent matches against Aue, with Aue having won just once. The last time the two were in the same division was in 2015-16 in 3. Liga, where both matches between the two ended as 0-0 draws.
