TEAM NEWS

Aue extended the contracts of midfielder Philipp Riese and attacker Pascal Testroet into 2023. Soren Gonther continues to be unavailable after having left Aue’s DFB Cup win over Wacker Nordhausen. Defender Steve Breitkreuz saw some action in a test match and may be available this weekend.

Stuttgart acquired Japanese national player Wataru Eno from Belgian club Sint-Truidense on a season-long loan. Stuttgart also acquired striker Silas Wamangituka from FC Paris. Both Marc Oliver Kempf and Pascal Stenzel had to leave last weekend’s win over St. Pauli early, but both should be available against Aue. Midfielder Orel Mangala will miss a month with a knee injury acquired in Stuttgart’s DFB Cup match win over Hansa Rostock.

MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: AWAY WIN

After a positive start of consecutive league victories and advancement in the DFB Pokal, Aue came crashing back to earth on match day 3 with a poor performance resulting in a 3-1 loss to Bielefeld. Aue struggled to create chances in Bielefeld and had trouble with fast attackers in their defensive end. Now Aue returns home to face maybe the strongest roster in 2. Bundesliga when they host Stuttgart on Friday night.

Stuttgart appears ready to put the blown two-goal lead of their trip to Heidenheim behind them and show why they are considered a league favorite. They worked hard to overcome a 1-0 deficit to earn a 2-1 win at home over a St. Pauli squad dealing with a lot of injury issues. They look like a team ready to handle a deep 2. Bundesliga.

Aue’s fast start did little to change the minds of the many who favor them to be in the relegation battle by the end of the season. They should put up a better fight at home than they gave Stuttgart last time they hosted them, but the result will not differ. Look for the visitors to leave with the points.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE - STUTTGART

The history in this matchup heavily favors Stuttgart. Though they two are both in the top five of the table, that has more to do with it being early in the season than anything else. Stuttgart will likely content for the league title, while Aue is more likely to be on their way toward the other end of the table. Aue has never scored against Stuttgart, nor have they managed to slow the Swabians much on the defensive end. Expect this trend to continue Friday night.

HEAD TO HEAD

Stuttgart has won both time the two clubs have met in league play by a combined score of 7-0. Suttgart beat Aue 4-0 in the Swabians only visit to Aue in league action.
