TEAM NEWS

For Reds, Yosuke Kashiwagi left the game at half time last weekend and news is awaited on his injury – he should be considered doubtful for now. Fabricio is getting close to fitness but is still out, and they have no suspensions.

F.Marinos saw Ken Matsubara return from injury last weekend but will still be missing Naoki Tsubaki, Ryo Takano and Tadanari Lee. Teruhito Nakagawa left the field injured on Friday night and he should be considered doubtful.

Reds

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Yosuke Kashiwagi

Injured/Unavailable: Fabricio (knee surgery)

F.Marinos

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Teruhito Nakagawa

Injured/Unavailable: Naoki Tsubaki (dislocated shoulder) Ryo Takano (knee surgery), Tadanari Lee (broken leg).

MATCH PREVIEW MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Last Saturday Reds managed a home 1-1 draw and a point thanks to a 94th minute goal from defender Ryota Moriwaki as Reds poured forward and Tokyo had eight or nine defenders inside the area. Reds persevered and go the point. The way the fans celebrated a last-gasp draw at home suggests to me that their expectations are lowering this season, but another home game against a team that has been found out after teams have seen how they play could see Reds win and turn around their average start. In Asian Champions League play Reds have a home win and a creditable away draw and may have their eye on ACL during this match but I expect them to give their all in this one.

Last Friday night F.Marinos were held to a home 0-0 draw by struggling Sagan Tosu and did not look impressive at all. It seems their system has been discovered by other teams now and they are easy to close down. A 1st half of the first game of the season they surprised Gamba but by the 2nd half of that game Gamba had worked them out and other teams have caught up too, now. They won their first two matches but have since gone five league and cup games without a win, with a loss and a draw in their last two league matches and no goals scored.

F.Marinos look a similar team to last season. All attack, but little class. Prone to defensive errors and easy to pressure and close down if the opposition manager has watched a few videos. Urawa Reds' manager Oliveira is very experienced and has the players to win this one.

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - LOW

Already this season F.Marinos have conceded seven goals in the league – only four teams in the bottom half of the table have a worse defensive record. With seven goals scored in five games and two scoreless matches for the away team, and Reds only scoring four (and conceding four) in the league so far would suggest a low scoring match for me.

HEAD TO HEAD

Last season each team won their away game in J1 matches between these two.
