MATCH PREVIEW ?MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Noriaki Fujimoto gave Trinita a second-minute lead last weekend before the team doubled their score on an own goal in the 26th minute. They then held on as Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo upped their game and eventually took the points on a 2-1 away win. They will be up against a team that pulled a win out of the bag last weekend but only against Sagan Tosu. Nothing to worry about for Trinita! Noriaki Fujimoto scored again last week and i the surprise J1 top scorer so far with six goals. He is a handful for any defender on his day and his finishing from half chances has been sublime. He has scored as many goals this season as the whole Vegalta team, and I am sure he can add to his total this week if given even a half chance. Trinita are playing flowing football and not overawed by anyone in J1 despite only being promoted this season.

Ryo Germain, Shingo Hyodo and Ramon Lopes gave Vegalta a 3-0 home win over the hapless Sagan Tosu last weekend. They were gifted a penalty, which was missed, and scored their final goal in added time so the win – especially against Tosu – should not be considered too impressive! Having watched the game they still have problems keeping the ball and creating chances but Ryo Germain is maturing well and should be given more chances to start games. In Daniel Schmidt they have a goalkeeper who can help them stem the flow of goals – without him they would be conceding many more. So, up front and at the back, they look promising, now they need to do something in between!

Trinita are a very good team, with nothing to lose in going at teams in J1 this year. No one expects them to win any trophies so they are not scared to try things, to attack, to take the game to their opponents. Their lack of fear – shown in Fujimoto's finishing – never scared to fail, so he shoots more often, and scores more – can be seen all over the team. They will be far too much for Vegalta in this game. They had conceded nine in four games – all lost – until last weekend's win and I expect them to return to losing ways against a very good Trinita team.

SECOND PREDICTION: FIRST TEAM TO SCORE - TRINITA

Vegalta had scored just three goals before doubling their tally for the season last weekend, and conceded freely (see above, nine goals in four matches before the win). I expect them to concede at least two. Trinita have their two losses at home so stats might be against them but their last loss was 1-0 to the current leaders a very experienced Sanfrecce Hiroshima. They will not be concerned by that and will go all out for goals from the kick off. They have scored first in four of their six matches, and they scored within a few minutes of the start last weekend.

HEAD TO HEAD

These teams have not met since 2013, when both were in J1. On that occasion Vegalta won both games.
