MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Ehime went down 1-0 away from home at Machida Zelvia last Saturday. They rarely impress and struggled last year until near the end of the season. It seems we are in for a similar year in 2019 as, after six matches they have just three goals, although somehow have two wins and a draw out of that tally. Last Saturday the stats show that they did not register a single goal attempt away at Zelvia and they seem to lack attacking ideas or even attacking desire – their 34 goals scored last season was second-worst in J2, “only” five goals conceded in their six games this season (52 conceded in 42 games last season).

Yokohama went down 1-0 away at Zweigen Kanazawa last weekend and seem to be losing their way in J2 so far this season. They started 52-year-old Kazuyoshi Miura two games ago, looking for some magic, but he did not even feature in the squad in last weekend's defeat. This is another team that looks to defend more than attack, it seems, especially away from home (last weekend's defeat was to a 91st-minute goal). They have scored just four so far this season, while conceding six. Needless to say, forwards like Ibba and Akira Toshima need to improve if this team is not to struggle in mid-table in 2019. Up against a defensive Ehime, they need to find a spark.

Two teams struggling to score, but two teams with decent defences so far. Both teams seem to emphasise defence over attack and their 12 games combined this season have seen a total of just 11 goals! If any game looks like a 0-0 draw, it is this one!

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO- LOW

Both teams seem to emphasise defence over attack and their 12 games combined this season have seen a total of just 18 goals. Expect another low-scoring match.

HEAD TO HEAD

Last season in J2 Yokohama won both meetings between these two teams.
