Neil Taylor and Ahmed Elmohamady are doubts while Axel Tuanzebe and Jed Steer are unavailable with injuries for Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa.
Daniel Ayala, who limped off in the first leg with a leg injury, will be assessed ahead of Middlesbrough’s trip to Villa Park. Striker Rudy Gestede remains sidelined with a broken ankle.

Mile Jedinak’s header was enough to settle a tight first leg in Aston Villa’s favour at the Riverside Stadium on Saturday night. Middlesbrough huffed and puffed, but Villa held on valiantly to steal the 1-0 win. That was their fourth competitive meeting this season, with the Villans winning two, Boro one and the other ending in a 0-0 draw.
Aston Villa were very strong at Villa Park in the regular season, winning 14 of their 23 Championship matches on home soil. In fact, only Wolves and Cardiff, who were both automatically promoted to the Premier League, had taken more points at home. As for Middlesbrough, they only managed eight wins from their 23 fixtures on the road. Although the tie is not done and dusted just yet, Villa are certainly in pole position.
QPR were the only Championship team to prevail at Villa Park in 2018, with Aston Villa going on to win three and drawing one of their last four at home. After an excellent performance and result at the Riverside, I fancy Aston Villa to book their place at Wembley Stadium with another win on Tuesday.
Aston Villa have scored exactly one goal in each of their last three league matches at Villa Park, with two of them ending in 1-0 wins. My money is on another 1-0 Aston Villa triumph in this second leg.
Aston Villa have lost just one of their last five league and cup matches against Middlesbrough, winning two and drawing two.
