Almere City are without Tim Receveur and Joshua Smits. Faris Hammouti could see some minutes.

Sparta Rotterdam are potentially without three defenders as Suently Alberto, Bradley Martis and Janne Saksela are all considered doubts. Goalkeeper Roy Kortsmit could also sit out as he collided head first with the post last week and had to be replaced by back-up custodian Tim Coremans.

Almere City

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Faris Hammouti (match fitness)

Injured/Unavailable: Tim Receveur (torn knee ligaments), Joshua Smits (unspecified)

Sparta Rotterdam

Suspended: None

Doubtful: Suently Alberto, Roy Kortsmit, Bradley Martis, Janne Saksela (all unspecified)

Injured/Unavailable: None

Almere City have parted ways with Michele Santoni, with Ole Tobiasen now acting as the caretaker manager. Under his tutelage, the side travelled to Maastricht last week and secured a 1-1 draw. They did go behind in the 56th minute, but Stijn Meijer equalised in the 88th minute. Almere City, who are in tenth, have lost only once in their last six league matches, winning four times and drawing once.

Sparta Rotterdam faced FC Eindhoven away in the last round and managed to keep their run to one loss from the past nine league matches (three wins, five draws). They did see a three league matches winning streak finish though as they were held to 0-0 stalemate. Sparta have now amassed ten league draws in total, the joint highest amount in the Dutch second division, with eight of those secured on the road.

Both teams have been decent recently, but Almere City may need time to adapt to a new man in charge while Sparta Rotterdam are finding it difficult to convert draws into victories on their travels, with four of their last five away league matches ending level, along with one win. Expect this league contest to end level, too.

63% of Sparta Rotterdam’s away league draws have featured two total goals or fewer. Almere City have conceded more than one goal in only five of their 13 home league matches. We could be in for a low-scoring result.

The last five league encounters have been won by the respective home side, with Almere City registering two victories and Sparta Rotterdam three.
