MATCH PREVIEW

MAIN PREDICTION: DRAW

Albirex went down 1-0 away at Tokushima Vortis last weekend. After six games they have two decent wins, but have lost three times – they are yet to find any rhythm in 2019. After losing four forwards from their 2018 squad – Atsushi Kawata being the biggest loss, to Tokushima Vortis, in my opinion – the team is still unsure of itself up front. At the back they have a goalkeeper and four defenders who have all played in every game, so it would seem the manager has his best defence in mind and they are growing together and doing their jobs – five goals conceded in six matches. Simply said, the team needs more goals, and when they get those they will move up the table.

Zelvia won 1-0 at home to Ehime FC last weekend with a goal from defender Kodai Fujii. They are sitting a point outside the play-off spots and, after a win to start their season they lost three games in-a-row to set alarm bells ringing. But they have steadied the ship with two wins and it is interesting that all four of their goals have come from different players. They have a decent all-round team and, with a lot to prove after reaching the play-offs last season against all expectations, they want to show it is no fluke and aim for a J1 place. They will not be easy to beat this season and today's hosts are not impressive enough to get the win.

Zelvia had a blip with three defeats and all 10 of their conceded goals came in those matches. Otherwise they have three 1-0 wins to their name and, it is looking like a low-scoring day in J2 for me as we see another a draw here!

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - LOW

Albirex have suffered three 1-0 defeats and seen a 0-0 draw.  Four of their six season-scored goals came in one match against whipping boys JEF United, so we can see they are struggling to score but, having conceded only five in six league matches, their defence is keeping the team afloat. Zelvia have three 1-0 wins (and a 1-0 defeat) and six of their goals against came after losing a man to a red card and then chasing a draw against Zweigen Kanazawa. In general both defences are decent so I am not expecting a high-scoring match.

HEAD TO HEAD

Last season in J2 Albirex won at home and drew away in games between these two teams.
