AFC Eskilstuna go into this league game having played Sirius away from home where they lost 3-2. That means that they have taken three points from their first two league games back in the top flight - a bright start for a team tipped to be at the bottom of the table when the season draws to a close. They have strengthened their attack even further with the signing of Russian striker Vladislav Bragin just before the transfer window shut. Together with Denni Avdic who arrived from AIK Solna during preseason, AFC Eskilstuna have a considerably stronger striking partnership than last time they played in the first division. The 3-1 win against Goteborg in their first home league game means the team should be confident in front of their home crowd.

Orebro, on the other hand, started the season with a 1-0 loss away at newcomers Falkenbergs and then lost 3-0 against Djurgardens at home. They have looked a little light up front since Kennedy Igboananike and Nahir Besara departed after last season, but they have brought in Carlos Strandberg from Malmo. The talented striker is still only 22 years old but has already played for AIK Solna, Malmo, Belgian club Bruges and Russia’s CSKA Moscow. He was given only limited game time in Malmo and the loan to Orebro is hopefully a chance for him to start regularly and fulfil his potential. For Orebro that means that they have a solid partnership in Viktor Prodell and Strandberg up front. Strandberg’s speed will be useful for Orebro when they attack.

AFC Eskilstuna can be relaxed and play without fear. They already have a positive start to the season and there are no expectations on them to survive. Being the underdogs coupled with a squad that perhaps is stronger than one would think at first glance they will look to surprise Orebro. The visitors were poor away from home against Falkenbergs on the opening day and they will try and rectify that here. It will probably be a close call, but AFC Eskilstuna just about edge it for me based on home advantage.

In 2017 the two league meetings between AFC Eskilstuna and Orebro yielded nine total goals. There are question marks for both sets of defences and both teams like to go on the attack. An open league game looks likely. AFC Eskilstuna scored three goals in their first home league game of the season. I expect plenty of total goals here.

The teams have not played each other since AFC Eskilstuna were in the top flight in 2017. AFC Eskilstuna won 3-2 away back then while their home league fixture ended in a 2-2 draw.
