Wolves to book their place in Premier League with easy win
Forward Bright Enobakhare is still a doubt for Wolves while goalkeeper Carl Ikeme continues his battle against leukaemia.Birmingham could see the likes of Carl Jenkinson, Craig Gardner and Sam Gallagher miss out through injury. Meanwhile, Garry Monk’s men will definitely be without the suspended Che Adams and the injured Isaac Vassell.
Suspended: None
Doubtful: Bright Enobakhare (knock)
Injured/unavailable: Carl Ikeme (leukaemia)
Suspended: Che Adams
Doubtful: Carl Jenkinson (knock), Craig Gardner (hamstring), Sam Gallagher (calf)
Injured/unavailable: Isaac Vassell (cruciate ligament)
Nuno Espirito Santo’s Wolves are just one win away from the Premier League after what has been a remarkable Championship campaign. Despite one or two slight wobbles along the way, Wanderers have been the dominant force in the second tier all year. After a memorable win at Cardiff, Wolves shrugged off Derby with ease on Wednesday night, winning 2-0. Wanderers have won five and drawn one of their previous six.
Birmingham have no doubt improved under Garry Monk, but Tuesday’s 3-1 loss at Bristol City has them looking over their shoulder again. The Blues are 20th in the table, three points above 22nd placed Barnsley, who have a game in hand. Birmingham face Wolves, Sheff Utd and Fulham in three of their last four.
Securing promotion to the Premier League will taste even sweeter for the Wolves fans if they can do it against their rivals on Sunday. This should be a stroll in the park for the hosts, so back a Wolves win.
Wednesday’s 2-0 victory over Derby was Wolves’ seventh 2-0 triumph of the season in all competitions. I like the look of another 2-0 Wolves victory this Sunday.
Wolves have lost only one of their previous five meetings with Midlands rivals Birmingham.
