Livescore | Match Prediction & Tips| Asian Handicap Odds|Line-ups & H2H Stats

West Bromwich will be without the suspended Hal Robson-Kanu and Dwight Gayle for the second leg of this playoff tie. Meanwhile, Gareth Barry is still recovering from a knee injury.

Aston Villa’s James Chester, Jordan Lyden, Orjan Haskjold Nyland and Tom Carroll will miss the trip to The Hawthorns.

West Bromwich

Suspended: Hal-Robson-Kanu, Dwight Gayle

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Gareth Barry (knee)

Aston Villa

Suspended: None

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: James Chester (knee), Jordan Lyden (muscle), Orjan Haskjold Nyland (Achilles tendon), Carroll Carroll (hip)

Aston Villa came from behind to pick up a 2-1 win in the first leg of this mouth-watering playoff semi-final at Villa Park at the weekend. Dwight Gayle, who was later sent off for two yellow cards, gave the Baggies an early lead, but late goals from Conor Hourihane and Tammy Abraham turned the game on its head for the Villans.

Aston Villa will fancy their chances in the second leg, as Dean Smith’s side won ten of their last 12 regular league games, drawing one and losing one. Meanwhile, the club ended the regular league season with five wins and two draws from seven away games. In fact, Villa have lost just twice away from home in league action since November.

West Bromwich have it all to do in the second leg after their disappointing defeat at Villa Park at the weekend. The Baggies have been in patchy form of late, losing three of their last seven regular league fixtures (three wins, one draw).

With Aston Villa holding a narrow 2-1 advantage, this all-Midlands playoff tie is well and truly in the balance. However, I can see Aston Villa securing their place in a second successive playoff final at Wembley Stadium. Back the away win.

Both sides love to attack, and West Bromwich need to score to stand any chance of progressing. Between them, the pair scored 169 goals in the regular season, so I can see this being a high-scoring encounter at The Hawthorns.

Aston Villa’s playoff win at the weekend was their first victory against West Bromwich in five attempts in both league and playoffs. They have drawn twice and lost twice during that time.
