MATCH PREVIEW
MAIN PREDICTION: HOME WIN

Vissel looked to be cruising to victory last weekend in J1 against Oita Trinita until they conceded an 89th minute equaliser to level the game at 2-2. David Villa and Wellington scored for Vissel. Vissel have gone four league games without defeat and have two wins in them, with two draws in games that they looked like winning until very late goals held them back. They always look like scoring but don't convert enough chances and then concede these late goals to drop points. They are improving and have the players to move up the table, so now it is down to a new manager to create a team the sum of its parts. I see continued improvement for Vissel.

Naoki Maeda equalised to make the score 1-1 and seemingly rescue a point for Grampus at home to Shimizu S-Pulse last week, only to concede a 95th minute goal to lose 2-1. They are now five games without a win and, and they are struggling to get points after a big start of four wins in five to start the season. They appear to rely too much on Jo for goals when – as we saw last weekend – I feel that Naoki Maeda could help a lot, too. Last week he was a 63rd minute substitute and scored the goal that got them back into the match, for a moment! If Jo does not spark, Grampus do not spark.

Vissel are getting well, and improving weekly, while Grampus are declining in form. It's a home win!

SECOND PREDICTION: HILO - HIGH

Vissel may be winning but with just to clean sheets all season, I see Grampus getting on the scoresheet at least, but with six goals in their last two home league games Vissel will manage at least two!

HEAD TO HEAD

In J1 matches between these two teams last season Vissel won both games.
