Left back Borna Sosa received a yellow for diving in Stuttgart’s scoreless draw with Aue, his second of the match, and will be suspended for Monday’s match. Negotiations to send Anastasios Donis to Italian club Genoa fell through.

Bochum fired trainer Robin Dutt on Monday. Right back Cristian Gamboa transferred to Bochum from Celtic Glasgow. Ulrich Bapoh received a two-match suspension for a foul late in Bochum’s 3-3 with Wehen.

Suspended: Borna Sosa

Doubtful: Anastasios Donis, Mario Gomez

Injured/unavailable: Marcin Kaminski (knee), Sasa Kalajdzic (knee), Orel Mangala (knee), Marc Oliver Kempf

Suspended: Ulrich Bapoh

Doubtful: None

Injured/unavailable: Maxim Leitsch

Stuttgart left Aue feeling short-changed, taking home just a point from a scoreless draw in which they dominated, possessing the ball for 74% of the match. After the match, trainer Tim Walter was critical of both the on-field officiating and the VAR officials, saying that if the officiating had been consistent, Stuttgart should have had a penalty or not lost defender Borna Sosa to a second yellow card.

Bochum will be led by a trio of coaches after Robin Dutt was fired on Monday. Dutt had questioned himself after Bochum fell behind by three goals before making a big comeback to earn a draw against Wehen last weekend. The club will seek a replacement for Dutt during the upcoming international break.  On the pitch, Bochum has just two points from their first four league matches, conceding ten goals on the season. In their two draws, they had to overcome two- and three-goal deficits to get their points.

When Bochum arrive to Stuttgart, they will find a host looking for the result they thought they should have had last week in Aue. Bochum’s players may feel an opportunity to show their value to an incoming trainer by playing well against one of the league’s top teams, but this will not be the place Bochum turns their season around. Stuttgart win big.

Stuttgart will come out firing to make sure they get the goal that eluded them last week in Aue. Of Bochum’s many problems early in the season is that they are slow to build to their big chances, scoring late in games or only after they are down. Watch Stuttgart to make a statement in the Monday night spotlight.

Stuttgart and Bochum have met in 2. Bundesliga twice, both of which ended 1-1 during the 2016-17 season.
