The Vancouver Whitecaps report Yordy Reyna, Michael Baldisimo, Jasser Khmiri and David Norman Jr as injured.

The Portland Timbers expect to be without goalkeepers Aljaz Ivacic and Kendall McIntosh due to injuries while Marvin Loria is questionable.

The Vancouver Whitecaps continued their fine play of late with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids last weekend for their first away league triumph of the season. They have just one defeat in their past five league outings to accompany two wins and two draws. They almost blew it in Colorado though as Fredy Montero and Lucas Venuto gave them a 2-0 lead after just 26 minutes, but a pair of Colorado penalty kicks saw the league game level after 53 minutes. The home side received a red card in the 77th minutes to hand Vancouver the advantage they needed and they scored the winner through Andy Rose ten minutes later. Vancouver has only nine points on the year though with two wins, three draws and five losses in league action. Five of those points have come at home with a win, two draws and two defeats as the team struggle on their own soil.

The Portland Timbers are suddenly the third best away side in the league following their 2-1 win over Real Salt Lake last weekend. They now have ten road points from three wins, a draw and five defeats in league action as they continue their 12-game road swing to kick off the season. However, they have been outscored 20-13 due to their rough start after drawing one and losing five of their first six league fixtures. Timbers' goalkeeper and man of the match Steve Clark saved a 26th-minute penalty kick and Sebastian Blanco gave them the lead eight minutes later. Real Salt Lake leveled in the 62nd minute but Diego Valeri notched the winner six minutes after that. It was the third straight league win for the Timbers and they are now challenging for a playoff spot in the West.

Both teams have picked up their play over the past few weeks and I think this league game has all the makings of a draw.

With the Vancouver Whitecaps having five half-time draws in ten league matches this season I feel the chances of another draw after 45 minutes are pretty high.

The Vancouver Whitecaps won 2-1 at home and away in the league last season. Each team has won and lost four of the last eight league meetings.
