Valerenga are without the injured trio Peter Godly Michael, Sam Adekugbe and Kristoffer Klaesson for this home league game. Mohammed Abu returns after serving a suspension.

Stromsgodset are without the injured Nicholas Mickelson. In addition, Norwegian striker Marcus Pedersen is again doubtful with a groin problem.

Valerenga shot to an emphatic 5-1 away league win against a poor Ranheim side in round six. All five of their goals came in the second period: Matthias Vilhjalmsson got the ball rolling for the visitors with the first, Deyver Vega notched the second and third, before Chidera Ejuke completed the rout with a fourth and fifth. Valerenga’s excellent home league record of three straight wins this season will make many teams visiting the Intility Arena sit up and take notice, not least Stromsgodset, who have struggled on their travels so far.

Stromsgodset played a home league game against Viking in round seven, drawing 0-0. The Drammen club have picked up just two points from three away league matches this season, as their poor away form from last year where they won only twice in league action seems to have carried over. It has been a troubled start to the season for Stromsgodset with only six points from their first seven league fixtures.

Given their strong home league record, Ronny Deila’s men should be too strong for the visitors and I see no reason why that shouldn’t become four from four here. I will predict a home win.

Three of Valerenga’s last four league matches have featured two or fewer total goals and I don’t expect to see many total goals here either.

Valerenga haven’t beaten Stromsgodset in the league in three attempts in Oslo, drawing twice and losing once.
